MEDICAL PRESCRIPTION IS NECESSARY FOR SALE
In many parts of the world, an Mexico is not an exception, there are phosphorus deficient soils. Therefore forages are phosphorus deficient frequently and in order to avoid deficiency signs it is often necessary its supplementation. Signs are not very evident but very expensive in productive terms. There is a low weight gain, anorexia, pica, fertility problems and lameness. Chronic hypophosphatemya may induce also hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and central nervous system alterations.
Phosphorus is find in 80% in bones, and is component of several buffer systems in the body, in takes part in a large number of metabolic reactions mainly through oxidative phosphorilation, forms a constitutive form of cell membrane phospholypids and is essential in transport and storage of cell energy via ATP. It is found in nucleic acids and nucleotides. Phosphorus levels in bovine plasma are 5.6-6.5 mg/dl and in sheep are 5.0-7.3 mg/dl.
Even when there is a good phosphorus absorption from gastrointestinal tube, calcium-phosphorus proportion must be correct and there should be sufficient vitamin D supply in the body. Frequently these conditions are not given and there are deficiencies that are not easily recognized by clinician.

PARFOSAL® has been designed for substitution of phosphorus in animals, particularly in cattle. PARFOSAL® also contains cianocobalamine (also known as vitamin B12a, vitamin B12b). Even when this vitamin is abundant in colostrums and is synthesized by microorganisms in large intestine, practice recognizes that it administration stimulates animals non specifically. It is normally stored in liver and even when deficiency has not been reported in cattle, it administration guarantees haematopoiesys and helps convalescent animals to recover faster.
PARFOSAL® must be used if there are suspect of hypophosphatemia and/or hypocalcaemia (milk fever) because almost always both deficiencies are present in fallen cow syndrome as well as post-partum haemogloynuria. So PARFOSAL® administration is strongly recommended together with other support measures.
